02. Who we are

About Gavril Kenzel and the Creation of Flexi-Carbon!

My name is Gavril Kenzel, but my friends call me Gabriel, and my greatest passion is bicycles. After running my own bike shop in Augsburg, Germany, for 17 years, I noticed that there was no reliable supplier of carbon mudguards on the market. This realization sparked a new hobby in me. After learning about carbon, setting up a workshop, and dedicating three months of effort, I created my first carbon mudguard—only to discover that carbon can be brittle and produce dangerous splinters in a crash.

To address this issue, I set out to create a new material to fill this niche. After three and a half years of hard work, I developed a carbon material that doesn’t splinter when it breaks, is incredibly flexible, and yet remains stable. I named it Flexi-Carbon.
In addition to mudguards, I have also developed carbon stays, which are now patented.

I’ve had the pleasure of presenting my mudguards at Composites Europe Düsseldorf and Eurobike Friedrichshafen, where I reached the finals for the “Eurobike Award” and secured 3rd place in the “Augsburg gründet” competition.
Now retired, I’ve closed my bike shop, returned to my homeland, and focused solely on producing carbon mudguards.
